OBJECTIVES OF NSS
The National Service Scheme (NSS) was started in 1969; Mahathma Gandhi Centenary year,
The focal objectives of the scheme are " Development of the personality of students through community service " This objective is sought to be achieved by enabling the students.
1.To understand the community in which they work 2. to understand themselves in relation to their community. 3. to identify the needs and problems in the community in the solution of which they can be involved 4. develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility 5. apply their education in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems. 6. develop competence required for group living and sharing responsibilities . 7. to gain skills mobilizing community participation. 8. to acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude, 9. to develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters, and 10. to practice National Integration .
THE MOTTO OF NSS
The motto or watchword of the National Service Scheme is ' NOT ME, BUT YOU' This express the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other man's point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society as whole. Therefore, it should be the aim of the NSS to demonstrate this motto in its day-to- day programme.
NSS ACTIVITIES IN OUR INSTITUTION
The NSS Unit of 100 volunteers strength started in the year 2009-10 and is rendering yeoman services to the society under the able leadership of Mr Chandrashekara C. Bilinele ( Programme officer) . The NSS Volunteers actively participated daily activities held at the college campus and annual special camps held at Korthyadka SC Colony (Amaramudnur Village) in the year 2009-10 and Paimbechal (Aletty Village) in the year 2010-11.
During 2009-10 annual camp NSS Volunteers provided drinking water
Road and electrification to 23 houses of Korthyadka SC Colony and during 2010-11 annual camp constructed 3.5 K.M road which connecting Paimbechal and Ajjavara.
The programme officer Chandrashekara C.Bilinele attended Programme officers Training Seminar held at Mysore and participated as the Camp officer of South Karnataka Divisional Level NSS camp held at Sagara ( Shimogga). Our NSS Volunteers actively participated in State level and Divisional level special camps.
Our NSS Unit successfully hosted Mysore divisional level Workshop on "Adolescence Problems "
